INSIDE MY HOMELAB

A working system.
A place to keep learning.

A personal platform for local automation, networking and testing device compatibility.

The brief
Bring local automation, networking and storage into a maintainable home environment.
My work
Integrating devices, building routines and dashboards, and maintaining the servers, network and backups behind them.
In practice
A working personal system for testing compatibility, troubleshooting integrations and practising backup and recovery procedures.

Explore the technical foundation

Proxmox, Ubuntu Server, Docker, Portainer, MQTT, Zigbee2MQTT, ESPHome, Synology storage and UPS protection. Remote access uses Tailscale and ZeroTier without direct service port forwarding. I test Zigbee, Matter, Thread, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LAN devices as the lab evolves.

This is my personal learning and demonstration environment. It is not a paid customer installation or a published capacity benchmark.

IoT teaching laboratory

Remote technical support for a practical IoT course and laboratory at Berezhany Agrotechnical Institute.

Explore this project
The purpose
Help an instructor teach smart-home integration, networking and cybersecurity through practical exercises.
My contribution
I recommend devices and platforms, contribute to the lab architecture, configure authorised systems remotely and provide documentation and one-to-one demonstrations.
What it provides
An ongoing collaboration helping the instructor maintain and demonstrate the selected technologies, with local control and compatibility guiding the design.
Technical context
Evaluation includes Home Assistant, MQTT, Zigbee, Matter, Thread, ESPHome, virtualisation and containerised services. Demonstrations cover deployment, device integration, automation and troubleshooting.

Integrated home control

An academic project combining devices, responsive dashboards, custom routines and remote access.

Explore this project
The purpose
Bring lighting, sensors and connected devices into one coordinated control system.
My contribution
I developed integrations, automation scripts, a responsive control panel and a local network. I also refined Telegram control and notifications and configured VPN access.
What it provides
An academic implementation combining dashboards, automated routines and remote interaction, with practical integration and troubleshooting experience.
Technical context
Lighting, sensors and security-related devices were integrated into a responsive interface. Telegram features require an external service and internet access; supported local automations operate separately.

Academic project · Berezhany Agrotechnical InstituteOct – Dec 2021

Smart home automation & interactive floor plan

Developed server infrastructure, a local network, a responsive control panel and an interactive floor plan for viewing and controlling devices. The project included Telegram bot control, ZeroTier remote access, custom automation scripts and a prototype device combining relays and sensors.

This was an academic implementation. Messenger-based features depended on external connectivity.

Academic prototype · Berezhany Agrotechnical InstituteApr – Jun 2020

A configurable greenhouse automation controller

Built an Arduino Nano-based prototype with ten configurable control channels: seven logic outputs, two servo channels and one linear-actuator channel with limit switches. Sensor readings and timed routines supported irrigation, lighting and ventilation control, with an encoder-operated menu for configuration.

A development prototype for learning and experimentation, not a certified product offered for installation in customer homes.
